What are Dead Thermal Pixels
Thermal dead or Bright pixels, also known as bad or defective pixels, are individual sensor elements in a thermal imaging camera that don't function as expected. They appear as bright or dark spots on the infrared image and don't change with the target.
This is quite normal for any camera (that’s what a Thermal Device really is) to have dead pixels, even you Phone and TV has them!
Typical thermal industry figures are around 0.5% while be defective. For a 640x480 sensor that is 1,536 out of 307,200 pixels will be defective!
How are they Corrected?
How are they corrected – there is a feature in the menu called Blind Pixel Compensation and you simply run that function and it will mask off the dead (Bright).
These are not considered a Warranty Issue, unless they are a significant number and actually affect the view
